Matthew Hyatt is the Founder and Managing Attorney of Hyatt Legal, a full-service Jamaican law firm providing strategic legal representation in criminal defence, civil litigation, conveyancing, and commercial law. He is recognised for his meticulous preparation, persuasive advocacy, and unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients.

Matthew has appeared before the Parish Courts, the Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal of Jamaica, acting in a wide range of complex and high-profile matters. His experience includes representing clients in significant fraud prosecutions, serious criminal trials, constitutional and human rights matters, defamation claims, and commercial disputes.

His representative work includes involvement in the Petrojam fraud proceedings involving Dr. Perceval Bahado-Singh, representation of recording artiste Popcaan, and appearances in notable matters such as R v Vivian Rainford and Sophia Thomas v Lowell Spence, a landmark case concerning prosecutorial misconduct. He has also acted for individuals charged with complex fraud and serious sexual offences, navigating cases involving substantial evidentiary and procedural issues.

Beyond private practice, Matthew is a dedicated legal educator who has taught CAPE Law for more than a decade, mentoring aspiring lawyers while contributing to public legal discourse through legal commentary and community engagement.
